What an odd evening...

I hadn't felt good most of today...mainly because I didn't sleep well "last night" (more accurately yesterday morning). So I wasn't quite sure whether or not I was going to make it to our weekly D&D game. I had mentioned this to my roommate's fiancee, and I guess he and my roommate had "made plans" not realizing we had our game. Well He emailed our GM and told him that half or more of our group would not be at the game. SO....the GM emails everyone in the group saying the game was cancelled. Well I decided that maybe I needed a nap...so about 630 i lay down and woke up to the phone ringing about an hour later. I get up check my email to see that the game got cancelled. Well Matt and I went downstairs to our GM's dorm room and straightened most of everything out. We ended up playing tonight after all...even though there were only half of us there. Matt, myself and Jovian (or Joe out of character). We had a ton of fun...and kept straying off of the topic of actually playing the game. hehehe but that's ok...we managed to get quite a bit accomplished anyways and earned 800 experience even though we didn't get into any fights. Pretty cool!! Not to mention I get the option of changing my character around IF i so desire. I told Mark, the GM, that I would sift through the player's guide and see if I wanted to change. Currently I'm a 1/1 Elven Rogue-Cleric.

Right now, I am debating on how tired I really am. I feel a bit sleepy, but do not think that laying down would be of any help. I feel that if I tried to fall asleep now, that the only thing I would be doing is tossing and turning......which leaves me sitting in front of the computer. Fun huh? I thought so. =)

I talked to my dad for the first time in about a year last night. My biological father...not my step-father. It was a very awkward phone conversation for the most part....at least until I started talking to my step-mom. (geez my familly is a giant mess!!) I started the conversation out telling my dad that I was calling to let him know how my life was going (even though I so very much wanted to add "even though it is seemingly obvious that you could care less since i have not heard from you in quite awhile"). His response? "ok....." {long awkward pause before I started describing taking a break from school to which he replied "alright........." followed by more awkward pauses and a bunch of small talk}.....I must be a glutton for punishment and pain because I honestly do not understand why I keep trying at a father-daughter relationship, even though I clearly know that there's really no chance in hell for it (even if hell DID freeze over a few hundred times!!). At least my stepmom was nice enough to flat out tell me how i am more than welcome to come visit sometime over christmas break. She told me it would be nice to have me come visit and that she would find somewhere for me to sleep while i was there...even if it meant staying at my stepsister's, one of my grandmother's houses, or with my uncle mike. In an odd way, I am really looking forward to going...it's been so long since i saw my uncle....he and i have a lot in common and he understands where I stand as far as the feelings i have towards my dad and the relationship he and i don't really have.

Maybe I should sit down with my notebook and pen and see what finds its way to the paper. It has been far too long since I last had any good inspiration to write poetry (with the exception of the poem I emailed to christof before he moved to Cali.

Also another project I would love to accomplish would be to getting all of the poetry one of my aunt's has written onto my webpage somewhere. She passed away in August of 1997, and I managed somehow to get ahold of the manilla folder with all of her poetry in it. I am sure my cousins (her daughters) would love to be able to read their mom's poetry online or maybe even have it typed and put into a binder to give to them.

Also, I am planning to continue submitting resumes later today after I have gotten a little sleep. I also would like to try to call back the lady from that insurance company to see what offer she was wanting to make. It might not be a bad idea to work here in kansas for a short while to get enough money to get myself to Cali...
